How to use the Malvern Hills AONB landscape mapping

Post Code Search

To find a developed palette of recommended colours for new development from a post code search, type the postcode in the box to the right of the map and click the Go button. If the post code is found the map will zoom to that location.

After the map zooms an information bubble will appear at the post code location informing you whether this location is outside or inside the Malvern Hills AONB. If it is inside the AONB the information bubble will contain a link you can click to open more details about the palettes that apply to that area, and to important additional information contained in the Guidance on the Selection and use of Colour in Development.

The post code search covers the mainland UK, but the background maps and aerial photos do not.  So if you enter a post code which is outside our map coverage you will zoom to a white map.  To return to the Malvern Hills AONB, click the link above the post code search to zoom to the AONB extent.

Browse the map by clicking on different parts of the slider bar (pictured on the right) in the top left corner of the map. Alternatively, if you have a mouse with a wheel you can zoom in and out with that: scroll towards you to zoom out and away from you to zoom in.

Slider bar

You can pan around the maps by clicking on the directional arrow icons located around the edge of the map. Alternatively you may click in the map and then drag and drop.

You can click on the map to find out the landscape character type within the Malvern Hills AONB, an information bubble will appear on the map where you clicked.

You can adjust the transparency of the AONB landscape shapes by moving the slider.  This will allow you to see the maps or landscape character types more clearly depending on your preference.
